What are the laws about professional photography?

What are the laws about professional photography? If I take picture of a building from the outside (like the big Luxor pyramid) can I legally make money selling it without getting anyone's permission or do I have to get permission from the building's owner or what? Likewise, what if the picture is taken on privately owned property that's open to the public (like if the picture is taken inside the big Luxor pyramid)?
