Candy chromatography for science fair?

i am using paper chromatography to seperate the colors of red M&M's and red Skittles. does this problem make any sense. and how would i test the Rf value of regular food coloring dye?, here's my problem does food coloring dye have the same Rf value as used in red skittles and M&M's?
