No. Part of what made his death such a big deal was the fact that he died so young and (at least to us fans) unexpectantly. Had he died when he was in his 80’s, especially of cancer, it would not have come as a shock to us. Additionally, I think a great deal of us feel remorseful of the way we treated him when he was alive. To a certain extent, what Madonna said about him being abandoned was very true. And many of us are guilt ridden over that. And what makes it all the more worse is that he died so lonely and unhappy. If we could’ve looked back at his life and said at least he was happy, we wouldn’t feel this depth of pain. After all, when you really think about it, the cruelest death of all is one where you die alone and unhappy.
