Can anyone tell me if they have ever heard of this and what does it mean?

I am really good friends with this guy, we do alot for each other, it is just friendship, no involved, not doing anything wrong. He told me the other day that he loves me. I told him not to even go there bec he is married and I refuse to be involved with a married man for more than plain friendship. I told him he was a very special person and I valued his friendship but love isn't in the equation. He told me that he "Loves me from a distance". Im not quite sure what that means. Has anyone heard this and what is he saying?
